DRU (District Resource Unit)
 
  Introduction :
This is the third important branch of DIET. This Branch is an important branch. This work is different from other departments. This branch works for those Children’s who are unable to go to school due to some or the other reasons. Moreover this branch works for educating the illiterate, HIV AIDS, educating the people etc.
Role
District Resource Unit (DRU)
  1. To assist educational authorities in planning and coordination of training programmes for AE/NFE personal throughout the district and to provide necessary support to such programmes organized outside the DIET.
  2. To evaluate and monitor the quality and efficiency of training programmes for NFE/AE personnel held in and outside the DIET and to strive for their continuous improvement.
  3. To undertake field interaction work vis-à-vis the AE/NFE projects and centres in the district and to act as the referral unit or academic problems thrown up by the field in the areas of AE/NFE.
  4. To undertake action research in all areas relevant for making NFE/AE more effective-in collaboration with other branches, to the extent necessary.
  5. To provide AE/NFE related inputs into all programmes of the institute, especially pre-service and in-service education programmes for teachers.
  •   To assist educational authorities in planning and co-ordination of training programmes   for audit education/Non-formal education personal throughout the district and to   provide necessary report to such programmes organized out side the DIET.
  •   To evaluate and monitor the quality and efficiency of training programmes for NFE/AE   personal field in and outside the DIET.
  •   To maintain a database on all NFE/AE personal who undergo training at the institute.
  •   To undertake the following activities for curriculum, basic and host. Literacy teaching-   learning material, low cost teaching and evaluation tools for AE/NFE.
      —  Adaptation of existing curricular units, teaching learning material etc. To shut local        requirements.
     —   Development of new locally relevant items including widely spoken dialects of the        district. To undertake the field interaction work vis-à-vis the AE/NFE projects and        centers in the districts and to act as the referral unit for academics problems        thrown by the field in the areas of AE/NFE.
  •   To help the DBE and AE/NFE authorities in organizing media support for AE/NFE   programmes.
  •   To undertake action research in all areas relevant for making NFE/AE more effecting.
  •   To provide AE/NFE related inputs in all programmes of the institute not listed above,   specially pre-service and In-service education programmes for teachers.
